Amaretto Sour — A Mediterranean Twist on the World’s Most Loved Almond Cocktail
November 30, 2025 – Yigit Kiratli
Classic Italian sweetness meets bright Mediterranean freshness.
Few cocktails balance comfort and sophistication as beautifully as the Amaretto Sour.
Originally born from Italy’s iconic almond liqueur, this drink has evolved into a global favourite — silky, sweet, citrusy, and irresistibly smooth.
In this Mediterranean twist, we add fresh basil and bright lemon to give the classic cocktail a coastal, sun-drenched character.
It’s refreshing, aromatic, and effortlessly stylish — just like the Mediterranean itself.
🍹 What You Need
-
50 ml Amaretto
-
25 ml fresh lemon juice
-
10–15 ml simple syrup (opsiyonel, tatlılığa göre ayarla)
-
1 egg white OR 20 ml aquafaba (isteğe bağlı köpük için)
-
Fresh basil leaves
-
Ice
-
Lemon peel or basil for garnish
🧊 How to Mix the Perfect Mediterranean Amaretto Sour
-
Add Amaretto, lemon juice, syrup and egg white/aquafaba into a shaker.
-
Add 2–3 basil leaves, gently torn.
-
Dry shake (no ice) for 10 seconds to build the foam.
-
Add ice and shake again until chilled.
-
Strain into a rocks glass over a large ice cube.
-
Garnish with a basil leaf or lemon peel.
The basil adds a fresh herbal layer, transforming the classic into something brighter, lighter and unmistakably Mediterranean.
🌞 Why It Feels Mediterranean
-
Amaretto → Sicily’s iconic almond sweetness
-
Lemon → Amalfi–style citrus freshness
-
Basil → A Mediterranean kitchen essential
-
Silky foam → Gives the cocktail a premium, modern aperitivo feel
It’s the perfect balance: sweet, sour, aromatic and refreshing.
✨ Mix With Style Tip
For a cleaner flavour, slap the basil once before adding it — don’t muddle.
This releases aroma without adding bitterness.
